AI Stock Monitoring & Sentiment Analysis SaaS App

Intro

Uptrends.ai is a stock sentiment and news monitoring SaaS app that provides real-time insights and alerts, helping traders and investors make the right moves ahead of everyone else.

Audience

Our primary focus was on:

• Short-term traders who need to stay on top of volatile stocks but can't monitor the market 24/7.
• Option and crypto traders seeking high volatility and instant insights.
• Long-term investors interested in company fundamentals but less frequent in their market checks.

The Challenge

• Short-term traders often miss out on volatile stock movements because they aren't glued to their screens all day
• Long-term investors, on the other hand, desire deeper insights into company fundamentals but don't have a platform that combines this with real-time sentiment analysis.

We aimed to create a solution that caters to both, making market insights accessible, actionable, and tailored to individual trading strategies.

Process

1. Research

User Interviews

The founding team had thoroughly validated the product idea through an initial research phase. Building upon those insights, we brainstormed ways to make alert management intuitive, especially for users with extensive watchlists.

Key Insights

• Prioritize Short-Term Traders: They gain the most value from real-time alerts.
• Discovery of Opportunities: Traders are looking for a platform that helps them find new opportunities effortlessly.
• Sentiment Needs Support: Traders avoid acting on sentiment data alone; they need it corroborated with other metrics.
• Visual Over Textual: Users prefer graphs and visual representations over text-heavy data.
• Trusted Sources Matter: Reputable publications are highly valued by traders.

2. Design

We brainstormed ways to make stock monitoring, analysis and alert management intuitive, especially for users with extensive watchlists:

• Customizable Alerts: Allow users to set alerts for specific stocks and alert types.
• Bulk Editing: Implemented a pivot table-like interface where users can enable or disable alerts en masse.
• Alert Frequency Estimator: Showed users an estimate of how many alerts they'd receive based on their settings.

Revamping with User Feedback

After developing the initial prototype, we reached out to traders to gather feedback. Their insights were invaluable and led us to overhaul our alert system to make it more relevant and user-friendly. Based on their input, we expanded our alert types to include:

• Revamped the UI navigation and pages' accessibility
• Restructured the alert feature: Mostly users found it challenging to go through our advanced alert creation feature, instead we made the alerts on default categorized for users to select between.
• Positioning to focus on core values (Analytics + Alerts) instead of features (Watchlists, news feeds, ..)

Added:

• Mentions-Based Alerts: Notifications for spikes in stock mentions.
• Keyword Catalysts: Alerts for market-moving topics like "acquisition" or "bankruptcy."
• Sentiment Analysis: Significant changes in sentiment scores backed by data.
• Ticker Associations: Insights when a company is trending alongside certain sectors or keywords.

Deliverables

• Product Design (UI + UX): A complete redesign focusing on user needs and preferences.
• Design System: A scalable and componentized design system built from scratch on Figma.
• Landing Page: An informative and visually appealing marketing website to convert visitors into users - Built on Webflow. Uptrends.ai

Outcome

The revamped Uptrends.ai now offers traders a customizable and intuitive platform to stay ahead of market news. Short-term traders can act swiftly on real-time alerts, while long-term investors have access to fundamental data supported by sentiment analysis.

Conclusion

Uptrends.ai is now better equipped to help traders and investors make informed decisions promptly. Being part of this transformation was rewarding and reinforced my passion for designing solutions that make a real difference.
